Test Results

Test results usually take between 5 – 7 days to arrive at the surgery. If a routine test has been taken, and the results indicate that no action is necessary you may not hear from the GP.

If your test results indicate medical treatment is necessary you will be contacted by the surgery. Many patients wish to know the results of tests for their own information or peace of mind. You can find out results of tests in the following ways;

1. Register for Patient Access. If you register for Patient Access you will be able to view your test results online at your convenience. Patient Access also allows you to book routine appointments and order repeat medication online. For information about how to register see the Patient Access page on this website.

2. Telephoning the surgery. Please telephone after 11.00 a.m and a receptionist can read the GP’s comment on your results. If you wish to discuss the results a telephone appointment with the same doctor who authorised the investigation/test needs to be arranged.

If you would like guidance on how to interpret your test results visit Labtestsonline – Click here: Lab Tests Online. You can search for tests/investigations by title and find out what the GP is testing for, and what the results indicate.
